Why are French Bulldogs so Expensive?

When the Titanic Ship sank on April 15th, 1912, Gamin died swimming to survive. In 1912, Robert Williams Danial, a 27-year old banker from Virginia bought a first-class ticket on The Titanic, with him was his French Bulldog named, Gamin de Pycombe, which he bought for £150, that's around $17,000 today when we calculate inflation. A survivor reportedly saw a French Bulldog swimming in the ocean after the ship sank. While Robert Williams Daniel survived this accident, sadly his Frenchie did not.

In another story, a report has it that Brad's Bullies Micro Machine cost him a whopping $100,000. And no... Brad's Bullies Micro Machine is not a fancy sports car or anything like that, he's a French Bulldog... That's so incredible!

On average, however, a French Bulldog may cost anything between $1,500 to $8,000.

Why are French Bulldogs so Expensive?

Is it because they are perfect human companions, or because they are sweet, funny, and have an amazingly unique personality? While these are some reasons why some people are ready to pay a fortune to acquire a French Bulldog, there are actually some trackable factors which contribute the exorbitant prices of French Bulldog charged by Breeder, and we'll consider a few of them.

  1. French Bulldogs Reproductive System:

First off, the body structure of French Bulldogs does not make it an easy task for them to mate on their own and procreate or deliver their pups without assistance. Though some records show that there are Frenchies, who are able to mate and give birth on their own - these are rare cases, a vast majority of French Bulldogs do not survive this process. Hence, the best bet for most breeders is to go through artificial insemination for them to conceive and deliver their pups through a C-Section, which costs around $1000 - $3000 dollars.

  1. Market Forces:

The number of people who lover Frenchies is at an all-time high. Research has shown that French Bulldogs are quickly rising in popularity, hitting the number 4 spot on the American Kennel Club rankings. They’re even ranked number one in New York City!

Hence, there are so many other Frenchie lovers like you, who want a well bred French Bulldog. Therefore, due to the high demand for French Bulldogs, the prices of Frenchies tend to be on the high side.

  1. The rarity of French Bulldogs:

There are different types of French Bulldogs, and some are rarer than others. Thus, certain colors of Frenchie are difficult to find, and when you find some, you'll need to also take the health and age of the Frenchie into consideration. The rarer the kind of Frenchie you want, the more likely you'll find it more expensive to buy.

So, there you have it...

All these reasons are factored into the price of French bulldogs, and they make the cute little thing more expensive than their body size.
