BEST FOODS FOR FRENCH BULLDOGS DURING SUMMER

Summer is here and it is definitely the best time to show off your hot summer bodies and keep warm with your favorite t-shirts and shorts. Goodbye chilly weather and hello warm sunshine. Again, this can be a not-so-wonderful-time for your Frenchie who feels that the world is on fire and is not comfortable to be found outside.

However, irrespective of the harsh weather condition, summer time can actually be a fun time for your Frenchie when it is properly fed with the right nutrients relying on the fact that the Frenchie is a low-maintenance dog breed when it comes to feeding. So you can choose the best dog food for your Frenchie which is rich in quality and balanced diet that will help keep it fit and reduce the risk of certain health conditions like skeletal issues, breathing problems, etc.

Here are some of the best foods for Frenchies during summer that you can cop into their meal plan:

  1.   Grain and Chicken Meal

This is a great food combination that keeps your Frenchie filled and healthy to remain happy even with the hot weather. You can also add oatmeals to the menu plan to satisfy your Frenchie’s appetite.

  1.   Veggies

You can thrill your Frenchie to the sweet taste of healthy fruits and veggies such as carrots, watermelon, cucumbers, pumpkin, apples, blueberries, etc. These healthy veggies are rich in vitamins, protein and low in calories and fats. The only precaution you have to take is to make sure that you remove the seeds in the seedy fruits before dishing out to your Frenchie.

You can spice up the fruits by serving it cold and ensure that you remove the skin because of pesticides, we don’t our Frenchie falling sick at this time.

  1. Yogurt

Yogurts act as probiotics to dogs so it becomes a top favorite for every Frenchie. When buying yogurts, look out for those that are free of xylitol, lactose and artificial sweeteners. You can use this to make a meal for your Frenchie more attractive to eat but first check with your vet on how safe it is to include yogurt into your dog’s diet.

  1. Peanut Butter

Dogs generally adore eating peanut butter and won’t miss out on the fun from taking a bite every now and then. It contains a great source of protein, vitamins and niacin and can be served with some tasty fruits or veggies.

However, you need to be careful not to give your Frenchie too much peanut butter because it can cause obesity and we don’t want our Frenchie gaining more weight than expected.

  1. Frozen Treats

Our dogs love food more than anything else on this earth and using this to my advantage I compensate them adequately during summertime with treats that are cool and high in water content.

You can easily find these dog ice cream in pretty much every grocery store and you can also make your own dog ice cream with very cool DIY recipes. You can decide to treat your Frenchie to a frozen broth popsicle or a chilled cucumber. You can also blend in so many fruit variants into a cool, refreshing smoothie. A great option to keep your Frenchie healthy and free from sugary contents.

  1. Keep your Frenchie Hydrated

First and foremost, you have to make sure your Frenchie drinks enough water to cool down especially when it gets too hot outside. This is pretty much simple since my Frenchie goes through water quickly in the summer, I keep a close watch on the water bowl at all times and refill as necessary.

On very hot days, I’ll add ice cubes to the bowl to make the water chilled enough to quench his thirst. You should pay more attention to keeping your Frenchie hydrated during this time at every time interval and don’t leave anything to chance.

Undoubtedly, summer time is the hardest time for them because they are not able to regulate their body temperature. So you have a duty to make sure that your Frenchie is comfy this summer and one of the ways to achieve your goal is by feeding them well.
